UAnet ID (University of Akron Network ID)
A UAnet ID is created for all employees upon hire to the University. The ID is printed on your Zip Card and provides access to various online systems and services. Your UAnet ID provides you access to your office computer,
UA e-mail account, on campus internet access, and access to my.bj7dian.com (personal employee information). You will need to change the password for your ID that you will get from the ITS Help Desk (330) 972-6888. The UAnet Services website at http://auth.bj7dian.com/zid/app/request/ allows you to obtain and change the password and email settings for your ID. After your account is provisioned, you will be asked to enroll in Microsoft Multi Factor Authentication (MFA). For instruction on enrolling in MFA, please go to bj7dian.com and search for “multi factor authentication” and click on the Microsoft MFA link. My Akron
My Akron is your access to many University of Akron services. Log into My Akron for access to Brightspace (our learning management system). Access is also provided to employee services, such as EmpCenter (our time reporting system), employee benefits, compensation and access to update your personal information.
The University of Akron offers a web-based email system for all employees that you can use anywhere Internet access is available. Your email address is your UANet ID plus @bj7dian.com. You can access your email account through MyAkron by selecting the Office 365 link or through Microsoft Outlook.
Zip Card
The Zip Card is the official identification card for The University of Akron students, faculty and staff.
The Zip Card provides building and lab access, testing centers, entrance to sporting events, library privileges, meal plans, Zip Print at campus computer labs, plus other University activities. The first Zip Card is free to students, faculty and staff.

Parking Permit
Parking permits are required to park on campus. All parking violations are enforced beginning the first week of each semester. Any employee parking on campus is expected to have ordered an e-permit online through The Permit Store (http://akron.thepermitstore.com). You may apply for a parking permit only if you have a valid Employee ID and UAnet username and password.
Accessible spaces are available in all University parking lots, but you must provide the BMV Accessible Placard documentation within your permit registration.

Keys
Please review the University key policy. Your department Chair or Director will order your key online. A valid photo id will be required to pick up your key.

Mandatory Legal Compliance Seminars
The University of Akron strives to create a welcoming and safe environment for its students and employees, and we each have a role in achieving these important goals. To help you fully understand your role and comply with our Gender-Based Misconduct & Title IX Policy & Protocol, the University provides a 1-hour online training. The University also provides an online training regarding hazing to help you understand how to identify and report hazing activity. You will automatically be enrolled in this training the month after hire and instructions will be emailed to you on how to access the training. Should you have any questions on the training or if you wish to be enrolled sooner, please contact EEO at ext. 7300 or EEOCompliance@bj7dian.com.

By completing the New Faculty online orientation, you will be well prepared to begin your UA experience. The orientation materials contain essential information to assist new faculty and provide details important to teaching success, including access to many resources on campus.
Each Fall, an in-person orientation is held for Full Time faculty that details important information, policies and acquaints our new faculty with the objectives and various resources available to faculty members of the University. The online orientation compliments the in-person events offered and all new faculty are highly encouraged to engage in both activities.

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration hub for sharing files, conversations, meetings, and phone calls. Users can drag and drop files into a discussion or team, edit documents in real-time with multiple collaborators, and instantly call or meet with other users. The calling feature in Microsoft Teams allows users to setup speed dials, favorites, have multiple line appearances, voicemail and voicemail transcription, as well as multiple self-service features at their fingertips.

University Police provides around-the-clock patrols throughout the campus. Visit The University of Akron Police Department website for updates, safety tips, and a variety of other safety resources.
Campus Patrol Escorts (330-972-2911)
When you call ext. 2911, an escort will come to your location and accompany you to any campus building or parking lot. Employed by the University Police, the campus patrol team members wear identifying T-shirts or jackets.
Emergency Phones
The University of Akron maintains more than 200 emergency phones – both indoors (mainly in elevators) and throughout the campus. Emergency phones are tested weekly to ensure they are in working order. The blue Campus Safety phones automatically and instantaneously connect users to UAPD who responds immediately to all activated emergency phones, even if no words are spoken.
Emergency text messaging (Z-Alert)
This is a texting service to notify you in case of an emergency. In the event of an emergency or campus closing a text message will be sent to your registered cellular number. Register for our free Z-Alert text messaging service.
Snow Closing Information
When severe weather threatens our ability to operate safely or when emergencies arise, the president (or their designee) will base their decision to close or cancel classes. Access additional Snow-closing information.
Motor Vehicle Assistance (330-972-7123)
Motor vehicle assistance is available should you ever lock yourself out of your car, need a battery jump or other similar assistance. UA police regularly patrol parking facilities. Parking Services personnel also monitor UA’s parking facilities.
